Question about Sony CDX-540RF 10-Disc CD Changer

Cannot get the unit to come on

Recently bought a used car with this changer already installed. I actually got the wired remote to work, but was not aware that in order to hear the sound the fm radio needed to be tuned to a certain station 88.3. Anyway, now I cannot get the unit to even power up. I also cannot get the magazine to eject. I pushed the reset button, but nothing happened. Is there a fuse issue to consider? The cars is a 97 cabrio.

Most chargers use the power from radio so if radio is working you should be getting power to changer bemore of a wire issue so you need to find out where power cable is going if seperate to radio possible it will have fuse and earth cable that could have come loose

Eclipse cd 3200 i recently installed in in another car. Now the radio works fine but when the cd player is on no sound comes out

Are you running your audio through an amplifier? If so, it sounds like you are using the blue wire instead of the blue/white wire to turn your amp on. The blue wire is power antenna remote turn on and turns off when leaving tuner mode. The blue/white wire is amplifier remote turn on.

I have a peugeot 207cc and I had a peugeot cd changer(it is actually a Blaupunkt)installed. My problem is that the cd changer always starts from cd 1 track 1 on initial startup and does not remember which...

Hi,

I would venture that the main B+ wire of the Blaupunkt CD Changer is not connected to an always on B+12 such as the positive terminal of the battery. This wire is responsible for memory/location/track last play retention. The other B+ of the CD Changer is the remote trigger on which is fed by and from the head unit. This in effect makes the unit operate with two (2) B+,an always on and a triggered on.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hey guys, I've just installed a CD changer in my car - having some difficulties getting it to work. After some Googling I came across this forum so I figured I'd see if any of you guys know where I'm...

there should be a small connector on the changer itself for the power ground and remote wire for power to the changer unit. the cord coming from the unit to the changer doesn't supply this power and this is why it wont eject and also your head unit wont recognize it until it gets powered up and able to communicate with the head unit and then it will show up as a selectable source when switching between sources of music. check the back of the changer for a small connector containing 3 or 4 pins and you should have a connector with the corresponding wires coming from it to plug into this spot after connecting the wires properly. if you bought it on ebay it is possible you didn't get this piece which is critical when connecting this changer.

I bought a '96 Mustang with an Alpine CHM 5620 CD player already installed. The unit appears in great shape and looks as if it were installed by a pro. It seems to load up the CD cartridge and change CDs...

This model of cd changer doesn't have the fm modual built into it. So I am wonder how this setup worked before. Most of these units had an FM tansmitter in them and you would just turn on your factory radio and set the fm tuner to a certain frequency like 89.5 or 91.3, not excatly sure on the right number, but somewhere low in the range. Turn on the stero and try tuning into differnet stations.

But like I said this model is desgined to be used with a aftermarket head unit with the proper wired connection going from the cd changer to the head unit.

Alpine CHM-S620 6 Disc CD Changer Components

sounds like the changer was plugged into the antenna jack of the radio. this means that you can run it through any radio simply by sending a signal to a preset station on the radio and listening to it through tuner. the control unit ran the changer itself. you may be able to obtain replacement cables from pacparts.com

Installing a new stereo. I am trying to install a ''JVC KD-R210'' in my wifes 1985 BMW 535i, replacing a Sony CDX-R79 and in the trunk is a Pioneer 12 disc cd changer that was hooked up to the system. This...

There is a line level converter that would need to be purchased to that you can get the front speakers to work with the amplifier. The stereo already has rca jacks for the rear speakers. You can connect these straight to the amplifier for it to work. Bes sure that you use the blue wire to connect to the remote turn on for the amplifiers. Once you get the line level converter you will connect the wires and connect the converter using the RCA jacks. The question would be how was the 12 disc changer connected to the system. Would need more information on the changer in order to help with that component.

JVC car stereo doesn't power up

Check the ground wire. It might have come loose. Ground wire is the only black wire in the harness.

I just bought a new car that has a xtreme sound 10 disc changer.

If the fm modulator is wired correctly, open door on changer and push small reset button at the bottom (unit must have power to changer).

Adding a radio w/ remote changer to a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

in most cases the wiring is already there, it is cheaper for the manufacturer to use one harness than many different ones, I know this is true on GM and Ford, should be the same with Chrysler products as well.
