Question about Nikon Coolpix S51c Digital Camera

Camera Frozen - none of the buttons are responding

We've had the camera since Christmas and have had no problems up until now. After turning the camera on, none of the buttons are responding and we can't shut it down.
The manual says not to take the battery out without shutting down. What do we do know? Will the camera overheat?

WB610 Camera buttons & lens aren't working as they should?

As soon as the camera is switched on, the lens barrel will come out. Everything should be ready to shoot pictures. If it is not responding to the buttons, you could try to remove the battery for a few moments. It will cause the camera, to start from scratch. Call it a cold boot. But then after switching on, it should respond normal, like you used to work with it. If it stays frozen, visit your dealer or contact a Samsung certified repair centre.

My camera turns on and I can only switch from the camera to play and back again none of the buttons work what so ever and I can not take a picture, and when I switch from camera to the play button it is...

If you could get into the menu, I would tell you to try a camera "reset". Since you can't, you could try a manual reset. Remove the card and all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Try a manual reset...remove the battery and the card. Press all the buttons. Insert the card and then the battery. See if that works.

Camera Frozen

I tried Option No.1 successfully when my Panasonic DMC-FZ7K froze once:

Option No1:

1. Try turning the camera on with the battery inserted.

2. Now remove the battery while the camera is on.

3. Flip the switch on the camera to off, then insert a fully charged battery. (Make sure that the battery's orientation is correct. Also make sure that the battery being used is not damaged).

4. Now flip the camera's switch to ON again.
Option No. 2:

If you can open the Setup menu then the camera can be reset which might help:

Turn on the camera.

1. Press MENU SET.

2. Press the left arrow button.

3. Press the down arrow button.

4. Press the right arrow button.

5. Now, press the up arrow button several times until the menu item named RESET is highlighted. Push the right arrow button and then select and set YES when the camera asks to be reset.
