Yellow spot in center of screen

Yellow spot just started in the center of my screen. I have ordered a new lamp to replace the one I have but not sure that is all the problem. From looking here see it could be the light engine or the ?color block. Any information on this issue?

I have a 50VS810 that I replaced the lamp in about 2-3 months ago. That yellow area has grown from the center, lower portion, of the screen and now envelopes the entire screen except the top corners and edges. Iremoved the lamp and it was perfectly clean! I'm afraid that there are now a rapidly growing list of victims of Hitachi! You can email me directly at jdhess@comcast.net and I'll let you know how things work out if they don't cough up a solution!

Tonight my son noticed an area of yellow to yellow-greenish discoloration on the bottom half of my Hitachi 50v710. At first is was hard for me to see, but I fear it is getting worse. My set had the lamp go out last fall, which was replaced under warranty. I will attempt to post follow-ups as I learn more.

Yes, I too have a mustard yellow spot or spots on my screen. I contacted Hitachi, who directed me to a local repair service, who said it sounded like the light engine. It is out of warranty, and looks to be a very expensive repair. I read on another site about cleaning the lens, but that is way beyond my capabilities, but will ask the repair service if they know anything about it. Hitachi customer service basically told me it may be better to just buy a new tv. I told him it wouldn't be a Hitachi...

I have recently developed the same yellow spot problem on my Sony KDF-E50A10  50" LCD television...a large yellow circular hue that takes up the bottom center of the picture and is especially noticeable against a white background.  It has been diagnosed as the optical block (light engine) and without an extended warranty Sony refuses to assist with the repair cost.  Repair was estimated at $1,100 plus tax and travel fees to my home.  So you see, it is not only a Hitachi problem.  You would think they could build something that would last more than two years considering the initial cost of over two grand for the TV !

Sounds like the 3 of you are surely having optical engine failures. sometimes dirt or other contamination can make its way inside the light engine and cause picture distortion. if you have a warranty definitely get it taken care of asap otherwise get and quote and expect the worst.

Sony 60" LCD projection TV has yellow screen discoloration

It sounds like you have a bad Blue Polarizer in the light path. I'm sorry but that is something you will have to contact a service center for. It's not something you'll be able to do yourself, I'm sorry, but that's the best advice I can give you.

Hello,
Unfortunately the discoloration is caused by the extreme heat generated by the Lamp has burned the LCD optical polarization filter/elements.
The only solution for this is to replace the entire LCD optical assembly.

Sorry for the bad news, :(

Yellow Spot dead center on screen

Any color spot is never the lamp with this type of set.
the yellow spot is caused by the optic block (Engine). Very expensive to buy.
Little over $1000 plus labour with a qualified technician.
Sometimes technician may try to clean or repair inside but most likely won't succed.
good luck.

Yellow spots are appearing in the upper right quadrant of the screen. After the set has been on for a couple of hours a second spot appears in nearly the dead center of the screen. This issue coincides...

Try the new lamp as indicated by the blink codes. That may resolve the problem. If not, the problem is in the "light engine" portion of the set which should be covered under warranty.
Keep us posted.

Zenith color problem

We have seen this several times and the yellow spot is due to a problem in the light engine. Major repair and very expensive. The amber lite is simply the lamp replace indicator. After the lamp is replaced a programmer remote is required to get into the service menu an reset the timer.
