Question about Gateway GT4022 PC Desktop
The computer shuts down almost as soon as it starts up. Then it will not start up again until I unplug it and start over. Each time, it will just shut down again. I took the side panel off and watched the LEDs on the Mother board. A green light stays on near the CPU. When I turn it on, a red light flashes for an instant at the bottom of the board, near the board slots. I tried a different power supply with no change. I tried unplugging all the power cables to the drives with no change. I unplugged and reseated the memory chip and the CPU with no change. I don't have another CPU or memory chip of the correct type to try in it. Any suggestions? I have read all the solutions listed for the GT4022 PC with the exception of the cmos battery. I would like to know if the foxconn NF4uk8AA-8E (Newegg.com) is an equal replacement motherboard part. If it is not, please suggest an alternative. Thank you, nj

Well i wont suggest you change your mother board alonne cause its your processor thats damaged.
Something caused the processor to damage and i believe its from the main board thats why your not getting a beeping alert(i didnt see you mention any) a continout beep means the processor isnt initilazing and a 3 beep pause means its memory.
You should change both processor and board.
To determin compatable boards all you need is your processor socket type. for example if your processor is a amd 754 socket, then any 754 socket boards will work with your processor.
OK NOW FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN TRY
1.) unplug the power supply from the main board
2.) remove the cmos battery and memory
3.) clear the cmos by switiching the jumper at jp1 for 10 seconds then switching it back
4.) plug power supply back into the main board and replace the battery leaving the memory out.
5.) ensure you have the mainboard speeker(beeper) connected
6.) turn on the system without the memory in it and listen for any beeping sounds
IF YOU GET THE BEEPING SOUN CONTINE HERE
7.) shut down and put in memory
8.) it should boot and work
IF YOU DID NOT
7) shut down by unplugging the computer
8.) remove the processor
9.) clear the cmos again
10.) replace the processor
11.) clear the cmos again
12) boot without the meory and listen for the beeping sound
If you get it turn of the computer and replace rams and it should work.
NB jp1 is located near the battery look on your manual for it or look for a 3pin jumper near the battery
it has 3 pins, the jmp should be on 1 and 2
put it on 2 and 3 to clear it then put it back on 1 and 2
IF THE ABOVE DONT WORK AND YOU DONT HAVE AXCESS TO ANOTHER COMPUTER TO TEST YOUR PROCESSOR I RECOMMEND CHANGING BOTH BOARD AND PROCESSOR

Not enough information. Please describe any monitor activity when
you turn it on, do this while the computer is still off, unplug monitor, then
plug back in. It should start automatically, then show the gateway logo, then
go blank for several seconds, then show no input signal box, then shut down on its
own. If it fails to do this it is probably that the power printed circuit board
is failing, not delivering the proper power to the main board and/or the back
lamps. One can have this board repaired inexpensively by a qualified electronic
