Microsoft's Elite Wireless keyboard and mouse is an excellent combination for use, according to your criteria. It costs less than $65.00 and is easily connected to replace a wired keyboard and mouse.
I have been using two of them for years now, and have never had a problem with them.
They eliminate excess wires, and work like a charm.

My mouse (Logitech wireless infrared) was not working properly, so I went to replace the batteries. The light on top of the mouse was red but the light on the bottom next to the optical sensor was green. There was a little corrosion on one of the batteries but I cleaned it off as well as the what was on the mouse itself. I replaced the batteries and turned on my mouse. Both the light on the top and bottom of the mouse will light up green, however, the top one does not stay lit and my mouse does not seem to work. Do you have any idea what's going on?
