Cant get any signal on my blackberry on Orange.

I recently purchased a BlackBerry, which is full working order.

Although- I had a Virgin Media sim card, Virgin does not support Blackberry, only orange, and O2 do in Cornwall, England.

When i purchased the orange sim card it worked fine for about 4 months, and then it just began to say SOS in the signal bar everywhere i went. I rang up the help line and they told me that the orange mast i was linked to in NORTH YORKSHIRE (About 400 Miles away!) had fallen down in a storm and that it should be up by about the 17th of November. Has anyone else heard anything about this, and do you think i should ring them again to make sure the information given was correct?
