Wingman Contacts Dirty, Cannot Open Cover

My 8 year old Logitech Wingman 3D joystick has become very "noisy" due to dirty contacts in the "pot" inside the stick. I've removed all the screws in the bottom, but I have yet to be able to pull this thing apart. It seems like there's another set of screws holding it down. Anyone who's had to do this maintenance, please coach me on what to do. Thanks, Steve.

I have the same problem as Steve

The solution posted below is fine for taking the stick apart, but it still doesn't get into the base. It seems if I can take the plastic ring off the top of the base, the top piece should just lift off. Unfortunately, the 5 hex-like screws don't actually seem to be screws, but rather some sort of facets.

It is 3 tabs inside the upper ring that must be pushed out from the inside.

The the ring with 5 like screws is just cover that can be gentle forced out with a flat screwdriver. Then comes off the power control and the rubber gasket. Finally the top cover comes out. Simple.       coco13cos(Romania)

I found a step by step video on line and like dumkoph didnt add it to my fav's. cant remember what search criteria I used exactly. My Wingman was bought new in 2000, or so. My issue is with the bezel between the throttle slide and the stick.

Four screws on the stick itself must be removed (two screws are hidden by the black rubber boot. After the screws are removed, the stick comes apart into two pieces, but there is two plastic "snaps" that still holds it togeter. On the bottom of the stick there is a hinge that can be pried slightly apart with a flathead screw driver. Once the bottom is apart, I just wiggle the two stick pieces side by side until the top snaps apart.

some pix or more detail would be helpful. There is only 1 catch on the bottom of the controller handle after you remove the the 4 screws. also you only need to unplug the larger plug from button circuit board.and it will only go together one way. Be careful as the wires are delicate.

When I plug in my Wingman (win 7-64) and I get the B.S.o.D. and windows has to reboot. any ideas? Im sure my driver is compatible for the system

I have Win7-64, and able to run Wingman. If you have the CD, it is okay, you can install both the joystick and USB drive, but the better option is that you go to the Logitech site, and download the latest drivers for the Wingman. Wingman is the older version of 3D, but the drivers of Logitech extreme, 3D are workable with the old Joystick Wingman., and they should work well on the Window 7 , 64 version

Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital Calibration

Hello there
Usually these JS automatically calibrate when intalled, but...some like olders models, have problems, with sensors, or bad calibrations inside the rotor ans sensors area. for those fixes, you have to open carefully the JS and look for the sensors that usually are two optical sensors, and clean good, with computer air spray, sometimes that did the trick, but others, its a sensors, problem. you have to RMS the product, or use your warranty.
hope these helps!

I tried the above link and it works fine, on a 32-bit Vista. But if you have a 64-bit Vista you might want to try the 64-bit version of this driver, just search around Google for it. Fixed the problem I was having with this joystick not working correctly in Vista (no feedback). Now it works great.
