Hpdeskjet 940c printer

I recently bought a used printer, but the red light that seems to indicate no ink, keeps flashing. Since I just installed a new cartridge, there must be another reason why it doesn't print.

I'm thinking that there is a defect inside the printer.

If I could see a diagram of the guts of the printer maybe I could diagnose if, since I bought this thing at a used store.

I have had this printer for two or three years now, it's been working fine until last month, the red light is blinking. I thought it was out of ink and took it in to be refilled, but its not out of ink. I am not sure what the problem could be.

These criminal companies make the printers that way. There are a few ways they can screw up a perfectly fine printer. One is a 'terminator' chip where your printer just stops working for no reason. The chip 'kills' printers after a certian amount of time/pages printed. Another is the metal strip in the cartridges; I'm still researching that. Another is the ink resevoir. Printers are constantly 'squirting' ink on the heads. When the resevoir is full, you'll have problems. These companies are scamming us all!!

I have the same problem. Changed cartridges many times before but did not have any problems. This time the orange light keeps blinking after putting in new cartridges.

I have an hp deskjet 940c. I don't know if this is the same model as deskjet inkjet. Anyway what light is on or off on the front when a new ink cartridge(s) is needed?

For the HP 940c, there is only one light to indicate a possible low ink cartridge. The LED above the cartridge symbol (the only one without a button) will flash. (Note: this LED is the second from the left.) When you see the error code, open the printer's top cover. If the error is a low ink issue, the LED will stop blinking.

With the cover open, the cartridge carrier will move until the yellow arrow lines up with an icon on the printer itself. These five icons are in order from left to right (as you look at the cartridges) : tri-color ink cartridge problem, black ink cartridge problem, tri-color ink low, black ink low and cartridges OK. If both cartridges are low, replace the one indicated by the arrow. Then the cartridge carrier will move to indicate the other cartridge is low. (If only one has a problem, after you replace it, the carrier will move to the cartridge OK symbol.)

If HP offers the full-feature software for your OS, then install the software. Use the HP Deskjet Toolbox to get exactly which cartridge needs to be replaced without needing to be ready to replace both (or to monitor your ink level (approximate ink level)).

The manual for the Deskjet 940c is available as a PDF from HP: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&lang=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64179&taskId=125&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=35985 .

I hope this helps.

Why can't I see the ink levels on my computer anymore. we just installed windows 7-64 bit. I don't know if black ink or color ink is out on my hpdeskjet 940c. It used to tell me.

You may have to update your printer drivers, try the HP website, follow links for downloads and support. Enter your printer model and operating system as you go. See if there's a driver update for you.

My hpdeskjet 940c wont accept a 4X6 photo paper It tries but the paper doesn't slide through

Print a test page only in black. If little to no black shows, you need a black. If your color cartridge seems full, only get a new HP black ink cartridge.
