Problems Importing to Computer

The camera turns on when plugged to the computer, but the camera screen is dark, and I cannot import photos to the computer. The camera otherwise works fine for taking pictures.

During a previous import, the camera was disconnected from the computer while the power was on and while connected to photo software. Would this be the problem?

maybe you are using the wrong cable i have done that befor.
