Sorry, it's not possible. The DVP-FX810 is one of many Sony players where the region coding cannot be hacked without making internal hardware changes. To do so is not cost effective when you can buy perfectly good multi region (or at least hackable players) brand new for £30 including a few Sony models which can be hacked (e.g the excellent DVP5980 with progressive scan, USB input, DivX and HDMI upscaling, still widely available at clearance outlets for under £30).
If you want hackable players avoid Sony and Panasonic unless you have found a model specific hack prior to purchase as many of them have the same limitation.

- Correction: I got my players mixed up; the DVP 5980 is a Philips model, not a Sony. Still highly recommended though: very cheap, easily hackable, very versatile.

i dont know if this is relevant but my sony portable dvd player stopped working after i left it on standby(pause) fo rmore than 2 hrs.when i was back it was switched off and when i inserted different dvds 'check disk' appeared on the screen after 'loading' for more than 7-8 minutes. My DVD player will not play DVD's. I tried to use it today and after a few minutes of the screen saying loading it said check disk. It has done this for several different DVDs. What can I do?
