Most common is lint build up. a good hot wash with a good bleach...check your manual for manufacturer's recomendation. There's various products available..bleach is the most in-expensive and works well. make sure its set on high water level...pause machine for 10-20mins...let me know how you get on

What is leaking under my Amana washer during spin cycle?

Unlikely as the water is pumped out during washes and rinses. As you say it is only during spin, my view is that you have a crack or a split in a hose or a plastic part which is opening up due to the movement or vibration of spinning. The other possibility is a bad seal at the top of the drum on a top loader, or somewhere on the outer case of a front loader. A full strip of the outer panels is the only way. You can do a wash and then tilt the machine backwards against a wall and use a flashlight to look up inside.

I bought the Whirlpool Duet to replace my old standard washer & dryer and I find that the wash time is longer than the old washer. Even the quick wash takes about 1 hour. Am I doing something wrong...

I assume from your comment that your old washer was a top loader. Yes, front loading machines typically have longer cycle times than top loaders. There are several contibuting factors... first of all, the wash action of a front load is to oscillate the drum back and forth as well as provide a slow tumbling motion whereas a top loader w/ agitator or impeller has a more aggressive action. The more aggressive action rolls and tumbles your clothes more often and therefore cleans faster. Also, because front loaders spin very fast (up to twice as fast as top loaders) to reduce the amount of moisture left in the clothes, they need to have balanced loads. They accomplish this by testing and rebalancing your load several times during each cycle before beginning to spin.

That was a long answer to your question- no, you are not doing anything wrong.

Good luck.

Washing comes out with marks

Yank that dispenser off the top of the agitator and wash some clothes without it.

Which is better a top loader or front loader washing machine?

Front Loading Washing Machine: Fully automatic.
1. Better washing than toploading as technologically proofed.
2. No extra effort except putting cloths and detergent inside.
3. No need to observe in between while washing. Start and forgot. You can go market and come back.
4. No issue if electricity or water went out during washing.
4. Take more water compare to toploading semi-automatic.
5. You can not open it once it started.

Top Loading Washing Machine: Semi
1. Save water and detergent.
2. Need extra effort to put the cloth from one box to another.

Maytag Nepturn TL FAV6800 Grey spots/debris on clothing

Hello davidsonrepl,

I was waiting with someone with more experience to post back on your issue. I haven't experienced this issue it but I would not rule out a transmission seal failure causing your oily grey substance in the wash tub. If you want to investigate further you can get the Service Manual from here

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1655507-found_service_manual_neptune_top_load

take a look at page 38 and on and see if you feel OK with a tear down to the transmission.

WHIRLPOOL ULTIMATE CARE II MAKES YELLOW BROWN STAINS ON LIGHT COLOR CLOTHES

Grease will not come from the interior of the washer, as the machine ages build up deposits under the basket and it is oily, greasy and full of mildew. If can get a spanner wrench from a appliance parts house and remove the basket you will see on machines older than three years a build up starting. I pulled 15 lbs from a 25 year old machine and I had to go get sick outside, it was bad.
