Mfc-7220 Back Cover Open

I fixed a paper jam. Now the Back Cover Open error message will not go away and the printer is offline. Checked, rechecked. Interlock on back cover?? This is quickly becoming an oversize fax. Or paperweight. Thanks for your help!

Re: mfc-7220 Back Cover Open

This one made me crazy, but I finally figured it out. Turn the machine around so that you are facing the back. Open the back cover. Pull down the second smaller roller cover inside the machine. If you look closely at the second smaller cover, on the right hand side (closer the the inside of the machine), is a very thin round piece of plastic that is only half the length of the smaller cover. There are 2 thin plastic tabs attached to either end of this round piece of plastic. Gently shift this over so that the 2 plastic tabs can now go into the space provided for them. I had to move mine over only 1/4 inch.

Re: mfc-7220 Back Cover Open

I removed (carefully) and reinstalled the back cover. That solved the problem.

How to fix -saying ,close back cover ,and there is no open cover it does not work at all

If you turn the Brother printer off and then back on with a paper jam in it you will get this error message instead of a paper jam message. To clear the paper jam from the back of the printer read the instructions from here:

Brother all-in-one printer not working; error 'back door open'

Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner.

There should be a paperjam in the machine. It reads back cover open because the piece of paper is covering the sensor for the back cover.

MFC-7220 All-In-One Laser Printer: the back cover open message will not go away...

There is a paper jam in the machine which is blocking the sensor for the back cover.

Remoev the drum and toner (cartridge) from printer and look inside, there should be a piece of paper there, you need to remove it slowly

There is a little cover there that has a sensor flag on it. It is most likely in a jammed position. If you are able to carefully take the cover out, you can bend it slightly, readjust the sensor flag, and reinstall it.

Hi I had a paper jam in my MFC 8820d - I removed the cover and removed the paper but I still get a Paper Jam error msg. I powered down the machine and turned back on - still same error msg. I have removed...

This can sometimes be related to paper dust interfering with a sensor. A burst of canned air can fix the problem. Just pull out the toner, open all of the covers and spray air into all the little crevices. You might want to do this outside, in case toner is loose in ther, so as not to make a mess.

Paper jam in brother MFC 240C

Usually small pieces of paper are jammed at the print head area. Lift up the scanner and see if you can find the paper at the print head parking area, clear the paper . If you can't find the paper, remove the scanner cables, then the scanner. You will see 2 screws at the rear and one near the USB connection. Another 3 screws towards the front will remove the front panel. Under the panel remove 4 screws and the two panel harnesses. The is a speaker harness which you must remember to attach back later (most people don't remember to put back). Lift up the top cover and you can see the whole engine. Clear any pieces of paper that might be there.
