On my LG shine cell phone, I only get a thin blue

On my LG shine cell phone, I only get a thin blue line going from top to bottom just to the left of the center ot the screen. I can receive and make phone calls. The key pad lites up an works but the two "buttons" and the "track ball button" on the slide appear not to work. Can this be fixed?
I know AT&T can get my phone numbers and address book from the handset but I need to get my text messages; both received and sent. Is this possible?
