Question about Zenith B27A11Z 27" TV

1 Answer

TV does not respond to remote

TV will not respond to the remote. Put in new Duracell batteries... nothing! Programmed code.... nothing! The remote will activate the RCA VHS player, but nothing on the TV itself.
Is this a remote gone bad, or the sensor in the TV  itself? Please respond as soon as possible, since I cannot mute the incessant ads!!!
Thanks! Wayne Englewood, CO

I'm going to go for a replacement remote.
It's about the same price as a Universal, (which I don't have), and
if it's not the remote, I will have to replace the IR sensor in the TV.

If I got an IR Sensor for that model, how difficult would you think it would be to put it in?

    Thanks for your answer!

Sounds like the sensor on the television has gone bad, since it works for the VCR. Try a universal remote that you can program the TV and VCR codes into and try it out. If it works for the VCR and TV then you know it's the remote, if the TV still isn't responding then your TV sensor is toast.

A replacemant remote is your best bet, but I would suggest a universal. At least if it is the TV that is not working you can still utilize the universal for your new television or any other electronics. I wouldn't suggest trying to replace the IR sensor, for the hassle it's worth try a new Univ. remote if not that just get a new TV.

I have a Sylvania 6424FF tv and i cant get it programmed to a univeral RCA remote the codes listed are NOT working

Hello
RCA- RCU 500 model universal remote has Sylvania TV coded with. The codes are:

006,007,010,011,013,016,027,
033,035,043,049,066,087,089
Programming method

[1] Press the button of the device you want to
control (for example TV).

[2] If the device turns on, press another button,
to confirm (for example CHANNEL UP)

[3] If the device you selected (TV) responds,

you will not need to program the remote.

If the device you selected (TV) does

not respond, you will need to program
the remote
There are very rare RCA remotes, with Sylvania TV can be programmed. Just try the above codes with your present RCA remote control. If it does not help, buy the above model RCA universal remote. You will get code list and all other related documents, how to programme it or so, with the device you do purchase. OK.

I have a Motorola DCT6416 PVR. Dog layed on remote and de-programmed. I can't find the program code to fix my remote control.

are you sure its not something simple like the remote is in the wrong mode. what lights up on the remote when you push buttons?

what isn't working? the cable box not responding? the tv not responding? nothing?

RCN's motorola code is 002 (actually i think the new remotes may be different), TV code could be anything.

FYI: battery cover on remote sometimes has directions for code search

hope something here helped

Remote will not work tv.

A working TV remote is a security blanket that allows us the peace of mind of knowing that we don't have to get up unless nature calls or the house catches on fire. People are more likely to spend more time and energy to fix their TV remote than to get up and change the channel. There are a number of simple fixes that can ease your mind when your TV remote is not working.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Easy Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • New Batteries
  1. Check the batteries. Make sure the batteries are in correctly and, if they are, replace the batteries. If the batteries are dead or are not in correctly, your remote will not respond and the LED light will not illuminate when a button is pressed. Make sure the TV is plugged in. An unplugged TV will not respond to any remote.
  2. Check the selected input to make sure the remote is set on the TV and not some other device programmed into the remote, such as your DVD player, VCR, or video game console.
  3. Reprogram the sync code. If you are using a universal remote, it may have deprogrammed, leaving the remote and TV out of sync.
  4. Unplug the TV for a few minutes. During a power surge, a TV can become "confused." Unplugging it for a few minutes will give the TV the break it needs to sort everything out and work properly with your remote.
  5. Use another remote on the TV. Program a universal remote to work with the TV. If the TV does not respond, the problem is likely with the TV and not the remote control.

Take the remote to your local Radio Shack and have it tested.. They used to carry IR cards and now have a pen-like tester that can tell if the remote is operating properly. Then, if you're sure the code is correct, you probably will have to have the IR detector in the Tv replaced...
