If the screen cracked from daily use and was not cracked on the outside of the set, then you are entitled to a replacement or to have the tv repaired under warranty from a manufacturing defect. If the outer glass panel is not damaged and the internal screen is,then call the manufacturer.

Plasma inner screen cracked, and buzzing. Is it worth fixing the caps?

It sounds like this is an LCD tv - not a plasma.

chances are that if the screen was hit hard enough, at least one of the CCFL bulbs for the backlight broke too. This created a fault in the inverter circuit, cauing a shutdown after a second or two.

Screen is blank/ w. small horizontal lines going across it

It sounds as though you may have cracked you screen or damaged the LCD cable. This can be hard to tell because many new phones have an outer screen that does not crack when the inner one does.
