Question about HP LaserJet 2840 Printer

2840 Memory Cards not recognized

Hi, my new HP CLJ2040 seems to work in all areas other than the memory card slots. I've tried Memory Stick and CF, and neither is recognized - nothing happens at all. Further, it shows up as 2830 in the HP Toolbox application, and I can't see any settings for the cards. When I push the photo button on the printer the display reads "not set up on PC". Any ideas what I can do?

Have you got it fixed yet ?

If not, are you quite handy with a Philips screwdriver ?

I have managed to fix mine by looking on the HP service forum under a post called "LJ 2840 seen as LJ 2830". Just g00gle it.

Have added my comments at the end of the post.

Good luck.

It seems that the card reader if the computer is not detecting the card. Make sure that the memory card you use is supported.
The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to Secure Digital card (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick PRO (MS PRO), and xD-Picture Card (xD). Specific models of the Aspire One are also equipped with an SD Expansion slot that can read and write to Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC) cards.
The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to miniSD, microSD, Memory Stick Duo,and Memory Stick PRO Duo cards but require the use an adapter. Acer does not provide or support any memory card adapters.
You can try removing the card reader using the device manager and the reinstall it and check the operation. You may also try using the card is different computer and check. Also try using another card in the computer with the issue and check. If the issue is not resolved please revert back with the model number.

What type of Memory Card does my Hitachi DZ-BX37A use?

Hi Dannjohnson,

The below are the types of cards that your Hitachi Device works with :-

It's an all in one USB 2.0 Memory card reader , compatible with almost all types of usually used memory cards like :-

  • SD card,
  • CF Card,
  • xD Card,
  • Sony Memory Stick.
Your data would be read just like a floppy drive or another removable media , just plug in this card reader in your PC's USB slot and then you can use all the slots for memory card separately.
It will also have a separate drive letter for each slot for memory card that you see.

Hope this helps ...:) Your feed back would be appreciated.

As I am scrolling through the pictures on the camera, a "read error"message comes up. This is occuring with all of the memory chips - even the new ones so I do not think it is a chip problem. Can you offer...

you have two slots for memory cards .. one for XD and one for CF .. if you have trouble with one slot then you can try the other type card ..

if you are using a CF card or micro drive .. then look into the slot where they normally go .. look for bent or missing pins .. some CF memory cards don't have much of a "lead in taper" on their connector .. sometimes they will snag a pin and bend it, push it out of place or break it ... sometimes you can straighten it but replacing a broken pin is a big job .. usually the whole connector will be replaced if its sent in for repair .. if you have trouble with the CF slot you can instead use a XD memory card .. or visa versa .. the little LED flashlights are ideal for looking into the memory slot...
make sure you format any new memory cards in the camera before use .. that should pick up any problems and makes sure the card is compatable with the system ..

What are the slots on the front panel used for?

Those are card reader slots.

Various types of memory cards can be used.

A memory card, (Or can be stated as Flash Memory Card), takes the place of the old Floppy Disks, for one.

It is digital. There is no disk inside, just hardware electronic components.

Due to the size of trying to explain every type of memory card that is available, and the memory card itself, I would like to give you this link,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_card

Here it explains the basic format of a memory card.
You can click on the titles of the memory card/s, (in blue), to get a deeper explanation, of that particular memory card.

The specifications for your eMachines ET1810 Desktop PC, state that you have the following card reader slots for,

1.Compact Flash (Type I and II)
2.CF Microdrive
3.MultiMedia Card (MMC)
4.MMCmobile
5.MMCmicro
6.Reduced-Size MultiMedia Card (RS-MMC)
7.Secure Digital Card (SD)
8.miniSD Card
9.xD-Picture Card
10.Memory Stick
11.Memory Stick PRO
12.Memory Stick PRO Duo
13.Memory Stick Micro (M2)

Look above each slot for an abbreviation.
For example on my computer,

I have one card reader slot that is approximately 1 inch wide.
It looks like a T that is stretched out.
It has SD/MMC/SM/MS/MS-PRO, above it.

This means that the card reader slot will support, (Use),
[In order as printed above],

1.SD Card - Secure Digital Card
2.MultiMedia Card.
3.Smart Media card
4.Memory Stick
5.Memory Stick Pro

I have one more card reader slot. It has CF-Microdrive above it. A wider slot than the above, and looks like a upside down stretched out T.

This means of course that it uses, (Supports), a Compact Flash Microdrive card

I've tried to explain the various card reader slots, on your computer's front panel, without being too technical, or being offensive in nature.

If you want, I can explain as technical as you wish, or simplify my solution more.

This is the Specifications page for your eMachines ET1810,

http://support.gateway.com/emachines/desktop/2009/emachines/et/et1810/ET1810sp2.shtml

Scroll down, and look to the right of the heading - Card Reader.
These are the cards your computer supports, (Uses)

Looking at the main support page for your eMachines, it looks as though you have four card reader slots.
Three grouped together on the left side, and two in the middle.

The two slots to the far right are USB ports, with probably a headphone jack port, and a microphone port to the right of them.

This page gives a little more detail, as to what your card reader slots support,

I recently purchased 2nd hand a HP ipaq hx2000 pocket PC. It all appears to function ok apart from it will not recognise any compact flash card when I insert it into the slot. I have tried several CF...

Have you tried using an SD card? The hx2000 is supposed to support SD cards and CompactFlash Type II memory cards. If it doesn't respond, it's possible that your second-hand device simply has a faulty card slot.

No CF card

The camera body has a tiny switch marked "CF" in one position and Sony's "memory stick" symbol in the other. Apparently I accidentally reset the switch from "memory stick" to "CF" while slipping the camera body into (or out of) its carrying-case. Once I had set this switch from "CF" back to the "memory stick" position, everything worked fine. Solution:  read the user's manual more carefully next time!!

CF for Jornada 525

The only advice that I could offer is to try those 2 Compact Flash cards on someone elses PocketPC. If they don't work then there must be something wrong with the cards. However, if they both work then there must be a problem with the CF slot on your Jornada. Try to test out some CF cards from an electronic store if they will let you. Yes, you do not need drivers for CF cards. A preferred CF list? Whomever told you this is blowing you off. People use all brands of CF cards from Viking, Scandisk, Lexar, Mr. Flash, etc. Sometimes there is a bad card and other times the CF slot is bad so check both of those out...
