One side is not working. The "loose" connection may be at the junction with the jack. Gentle jiggle to the area transiently restores the sound. Any suggestions.
It's definatly a fray/fracture in the wire. The only problem is these may have 2 wires in one wrapping. Meaning there is an outer wire around another casing for the ground wire or vice versa. If they are too expensive to replace then try to melt the rubber with a soldering iron and try to put a tiny bit of solder on the wire and put some heatshrink over the exposed wiring and heat with a hair dryer to secure it and keep from grounding.

bose in-ear headphones are not working. Sometimes the sounds come from one of the buds, never both, and most of the time neither. If it is working it fades in and out.

Its a connection problem near the jack. THIS IS SOMETHING BOSE SHOULD ADDRESS! I would appreciate a free repair, but they do not offer the device for free. Great sound quality, but the wiring is weak.
