Convergence and distortion problem.

Heard a brief high-pitch whine, then a click and the screen went all wacko. Not just a typical convergence, but a seeming spherical abberation. Can correct convergence in one area, and the other areas un-align. Is this anything relatively straightforward? None of the bulbs seem out. I'm decent with components and electronics, but would need perhaps reference to pictures, if it's not visibly obvious. Thanks.
