i have varius trojan virus and i lost my cd and manual i am a pastor and i was given this laptop how can i get a recovery cd and the manual i had to buy a ac plug but is giving me problems

You can get a recovery cd from Compaq. You will need to give them the model number and serial number from the laptop. They usually charge for a replacement recovery disc. Here is a link to the support page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07143

Hello and thank you for using Fixya services.

You can run a scan using this free malware/antivirus protection. I am not sure which antivirus you are currently using but this one is free and has excellent reviews. You will need to uninstall your current antivirus protection first before installing this one.

Malware/trojans can disable your antivirus programs and make it look like everything is running smoothly. By running a thourall scan with another program, you can get the malware out. Even the best antivirus can be disabled.

To reformat your hard drive, you will need to obtain a Windows XP CD (if this is the operating system you have). The license will be located on the bottom of the laptop with a yeallow sticker. If you cannot locate a CD, I would recommend you take it in to get serviced because purchasing another CD will cost you about $80.00 more than service fee of $60.00.
