Cartridge carrier stalled and have

Cartridge carrier stalled and have error message 0502. There is no paper jam, I had cleared the paper jam then the cartridge would not register a change in installing new ink cartridge. Now the cartridge carrier if I turn the printer off will just slam over instead of gliding over as it had previous done. I also had removed and reinstalled the printer software and reinstalled the print driver and utilities software from the driver and utilities CD.
