Mitsubishi WS 65807 issue- Pressing power button turns unit on for about 5 seconds and then the power shuts off. Unplugged for about 30 seconds and disconnected it from all other equipment, reconnected power, then video cables- no change. It does respond to power command from remote control. I called him and the code is 2-1, X-Ray protection.

I had seen some other comments about 2-2 and it being the convergence output IC and that would have been nice, but that would have been too easy.

Does the X-Ray protection have anything to do with the donuts on the yokes?

The model you have selected should have a self check feature: when turns off and the green power light goes off:

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS AND HOLD BOTH MENU AND INPUT(some sets the input is called device) together for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code: for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--it will repeat the code about 10 times.

error codes for this set:

1, then 2 no error detected
2, then 1 X-ray protection
2, then 2 short protection
2, then 3 deflection circuit problem
2, then 4 vertical deflection problem

2, then 2 is the most common and easiest to fix.

Let me know what you find and if 2,2 I have detailed instructions for repairing that kind of trouble.

I am here to help people.

2-1 can be almost anything in the set causing low or high voltage in the picture tubes etc.

almost anything---someone is going to have to troubleshoot it---not likely to get fixed in the home.

Turns itself off and then won't stay on

Do the self check.

If you unplugged the set, plug it back, turn it on and allow to fail.

Press both the Menu and Input (input may be labeled device) buttons on the front of the set and Hold both for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will begin to blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, pause and repeat it for a total of 5 times.

Let me know what error you find and I tell you the meaning and a possible answer.

Will Not Turn On

First you need to do a self test diagnosis and then if it comes up with:
SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB
Do self test by pressing Input/Device and Menu at the same time for 5 sec. the set will show a 2 digit seq. first blinks followed by a short pause then the second.

I have a mitsubishi ws-65807. I have no picture or sound. It used to work.

try the self check this model has, try to turn set on and when green power light comes on and goes off press and hold both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

This is a self-check this model has----the power light will then blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.

The idea here was to narrow down what area the problem is in.

Let me know with a comment here and I will tell you what the error code you found means.
