Although I am not sure what this has to do with dryers, the color spectrum of a rainbow runs from purple to yellow. The visible spectrum runs from black to white with ultraviolet and infrared beyond the visible spectrum. Purple, violet, blue, red, orange, and yellow are the colors in a rainbow.
The problem is your color purity is off. The earths magnetic poles cause this to happen on all direct view televisions, when you move a television or turn it from its usual viewing spot. You may have noticed a thump sound when you first cut on the television after its been off for a while, this is the televisions degaussing circuit mixing the color phospers in the picture tube. One way to clear this is to turn off the set for at least 20 mins and turning it back on this usually clears the purity. Have you ever had a older computer monitor and it had a button on it that says degauss an press it and you see a rainbow of colors then the screen goes back to normal. Well your television also has one too but does it when you first cut on the television you can't see the rainbow effect because the screen is still dark at this point.
If this does not work have a technician come out and degauss the set for u manually, using a degaussing coil.
for the color problem, most likely you do have problem with loose contact of components from C-board ( small board connected at the back of CRT "picture tube" which drives every color and size of the screen)if you have knowledge with soldering electronic component parts, resolder this board and also check main board for possible loose contact.
Check any magnatic device near TV which causes purple color on screen. That device can be Speaker, Electronic toy, Watch like that carring piece of magnet inside. Remove that device and turn OFF your TV for half a hour, then power again. Hope the color will be fine n normal on entire screen.
