Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Detergent dispenser won't empty

I have a new Whirlpool Duet sport front loader. It does not dispense the detergent or softener. I have checked manuals, no info  on this issue. I suspect improper water flushing. Possible lack of connection, or a flush water routing issue. I am under warranty but could do an easy repair. Any suggestions?

Took the top off. The cam had indeed popped off. Reattached the arm to the actuator without difficulty. Looks like a fix.

    Thanks, John

With a whirlpool front loader, the tray you put the washing powder in has 3 compartments what goes in which compartment

If the model number you have this question listed under is correct, the Duet dispenser tray is arranged as follows:

1. The LEFT compartment is for detergent. There is a separator guide that needs to stay in place. Place it in the forward most position if using liquid detergent and the aftermost position if using powder.

2. The RIGHT FRONT compartment is where you put liquid fabric softener.

3. The RIGHT REAR compartment is where you add liquid bleach.

An illustration with full explanation is available on Page 12 of the Whirlpool Duet owner's manual. If you no longer have a manual, you can go to managemylife.com and download or print a copy for FREE.

If you have any further questions, or if your model number is different, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Whirlpool Duet Sport WFW8300SW02. Water pours out detergent disp

You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub.
Pull the dispenser drawer completely out.
There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it.
Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening.
Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose.
This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.

Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.

The softener holder just fills with water but will not drain.

Is water left in the dispenser at the end of the cycle?
About two tablespoons of water remaining in the dispenser compartment at the end of the cycle is normal. At the end of the wash cycle, fresh water automatically cleans the dispenser. Check that the cycle is complete before opening the dispenser drawer.
Is the dispenser drawer clogged?
A clogged dispenser can block the flow of water through the dispenser and cause water to leak out. Manually remove the dispenser, and clean any leftover detergent or additives that could clog the flow of water through the dispenser. Also, check that the detergent drawer is always completely closed during the cycle. If the drawer is not closed completely, water can leak out onto the floor.
Are the additives dispensing too early?
Here are a few things that can cause the additives (detergent, fabric softener or liquid chlorine bleach) to dispense early:
  • Check that the dispenser is not overfilled. Do not fill past the MAX fill lines on the dispenser. Overfilling can cause early dispensing of liquid chlorine bleach and/or fabric softener.
  • Check that the detergent separator is in the correct position. For liquid detergent, the separator should be in the front position. For powdered detergent, the separator should be in the rear position. If the separator is in the rear position while you are using liquid detergent, it will dispense immediately, which is not how it is designed to work.
  • Use powdered HE detergent when using the DELAY WASH option. Liquid detergent may dispense prior to the start of wash.
Are the additives dispensing too late?
The additives will not dispense until the proper time if the DELAY WASH option is selected.

Detergent and fabric softener dispense at the same time

Whirlpool has designed this drawer as a siphon feed and soap and softener go as 1, 2 punch followed by bleach mid cycle.

Whirlpool Duet dispenser problem

this may be due to a faulty solenoid, if the cold water is flowing into the machine under normal use at the start, then check the solenoids as the conditioner has its own, the solenoids are just behind the body where the water pipes fit to the machine, they have 2 wires on each one, and are tested for circuit when machine is unplugged. stat there, hope i have helped
