If you are on a network, then your firewall is built in your router.

WINDOWS 7 how to block and stop unwanted programs

This means you are suppose to stop all the unwanted programs in the windows 7 to improve the performance of the operating systems.
There are several ways to block & stop unwanted programs, in the operating system itself there is firewall which helps you to stop the unwanted programs using "Allow/Block" rules.
You can find lot of freeware programs to stop and disallow when windows starts.
Few of them are comes with Antivirus programs with firewall protection,
Ccleaner - To remove unwanted information and unwanted startup services.
To stop programs temporarily you can use Windows Task Manager. This can be open by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC you will see all the present running process, start-up services, system services.

You can click on START+R to open RUN command prompt
Then type SERVICES.MSC then you will get all the system services which are running continuously if you are familiar with your programs you decide what programs to stop and disable from start-up.
Caution: Use this program (services.msc) when you are familiar stopping system services may stop functioning of some features or OS may crash.

Hope this will be helpful

Windows 98 does not support Plug n Play Devices. So you have to download appropriate drivers from Microsoft Website. Though Windows 98SE ( Windows 98 Second Edition ) thought to be support USB Mass Storage Drives fairly, these drivers are not pre-installed with OS. You have to download Service packs to install these drivers.

Since Windows 98 have TWO versions, we have to download corresponding service packs .

You can
Download Service Packs for Windows 98 Here

Download Service Packs for Windows 98 SE (Windows 98 Second Edition) Here

How to download free microsoft windows 98 second edition ?

download utorrent here
install and open (careful about accepting toolbars or letting run at start up)

then go here

save the torrent to desktop. minimize browser, drag and drop from desk top to open utorrent window
Delete icon from desktop. While it is seeding
go here
download and install
when torrent reaches 100% double click and save to desktop.
open windows 98se that was saved to desktop and burn the ISO "Only"
by dragging and dropping to upper lefthand field of open imageburn ater choosing burn image to disk (you will need a blank cd for this or dvd if the machine you are installing to has a dvd rom installed.)
imageburn will have tutorials at heir website if needed.
Please keep in mind that this is free...all of it. So somewhere along the way make a small donation or at least seed for a bit if it is downloading slowly, because unless you have an installation disk you won't get it free any other way. No need for updating so just turn off automatic updates and if you need them get them from a 3rd party site. Be sure to always scan before installing.. When all is said and done scan with malwarebytes.
If you need free anti virus and firewall you can get them here...
Hope it helps
If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a rating of 4.It will help me
as well. Thank you.

I can't download anything

Your firewall may be blocking everything. Go to your control panel find the windows firewall and shut it off temporarily and then try the downloads. If it works now, the the firewall was stopping you. You can adjust the firewall settings to be more open, expert with the settings one by one and see what helps. Also if you have other firewall software, you should do the same sort of test with that software.

If this solves the problem, please leave feedback.

Video drivers

first click start then RIGHT click on my computer and click manage. Then click on device manager in the top left window of computer management.

A new window will open on the right, showing all hardware in your pc. If you double click on display devices and it says standard vga or it has a yellow exclamation mark on it then that is your problem. You will need to visit the manufacturer site of your pc and download the graphics drivers for your machine. You should then be able to play war of warcraft

If it says standard vga display adapter then you will need to download this program and run it then look under vga adapter and you will be able to identify what display device you have

hope thats clear enough for you

if it helps vote for me

Warcraft 3 frozen throne

Do you use a firewall?
If yes, have you tried it while your firewalls are deactivated (on both computers)? If it works with the deactivated firewall, find out whether the firewall prevents the application from using the network (unlikely) or whether it prevents specific ports from being used.

Without any applications running, start a cmd window.
Type "netstat -a" (without the quotes).
Now start Warcraft and create a new LAN game (server).
Start a second cmd window, type "netstat -a".
The new server should now be visible as one or more "LISTENING" entries.
If not, Warcraft may not be working properly.

You may also have to create you game in a different way from when you create a game for the internet.

Windows 98

If you still prefer Windows 98, make sure you download the latest version (or the last one, since Microsoft has stopped rolling out updates for Windows 98), and install a good antivirus. Try AVG, a free antivirus, or Kapersky, rated the best antivirus around. Of course, you have to install a firewall, try ZoneAlarm. Although you might have to search for a version compatible with Windows 98. If you can afford, try upgrading to Windows 2000.
