We replaced a mercury thermostat with a Honeywell "Heat Only" Round thermostat, Model CT87K, to control a newer in-wall gas furnace. It is a simple 2 wire system, but it will not turn the heater on. The little switches are set for gas. When we touch the two wires together, the heater fires up - no problem. I see a battery, but do not know how to get to it without breaking housing. It's brand new, so I don't think it's the battery. Very maddening problem for something so simple. Any thoughts?

- Thank you for you help! I'm sure you have solved the problem. I'll look for a millivolt thermostat.
You need a specific thermostat for a Wall Furnace it is a Millivolt Thermostat and not a 24v standard thermostat....usually it will work anyway however if the powerpile (generator produces millivolts from the pilot light) is weak it may not be producing enough...or the Pilot light may be dirty and lazy...won't produce enough millivolts ...or you can have bad or dirty contacts or connections....or a combination of any of the above.....a 24v Thermostat and particularly a non-mercury thermostat has too much resistance in it for a millivolt system....as your Wall Furnace (other than the fan) runs on less than 1 volt

Hi There, I have an Ideal Response 120 Combi Boiler. Each day the water pressure falls to 0 on the pressure gauge. In order to get hot water and Cental Heating I increase the pressure to 1.5. The Hot water works ok however the only way I can get the CH to work is to press the Overide. (the remote controll will not turn on the CH) The Red light on the Overide(alarm) is constantly on. When I turn on the CH the water pressure increases as the system gets hotter. To eleviate this I drain the water from the nearest radiator. This brings down the water pressure. Once the CH is turned off the pressure is lost. There are no leaks to the system or radiators. Can you advise what is wrong. Thank you
