Wintv 2000 I got a wintv 2000 and when i load it it says that the cable filter cannot be displayed. How do i fix that and would i need to upgrade my sound or video card. I do not remember what exactly computer i have ive had it over a year but can find out.

Are they wavy lines throughout the picture or are they just wavy on the side? Waving picture is usually caused by poor power supply filtering. Wavy lines throughout the picture are caused by interference. Try moving the device away from the computer with an extension USB cable it may be picking up interference from the surrounding electronic devices. It could also be defective.

Alternatively, recording can be scheduled using the WinTV Scheduler software included in the WinTV installation package. From the WinTV Scheduler main window, press "add program". Next, enter the time and date in addition to the channel to be recorded. Finally, click "save program". While recording TV on the laptop is not nearly as straightforward as it is with Tivo and other similar devices, the above methods are both reliable and relatively intuitive.

so does Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-pci don't support vista

it will wipe all your files and data off the disk an be gone forever

Could be a Ram or Cpu issue. I had a similar problem with ocsasional pixelated picture & discovered my Ram was faulty ( due to overclocking). I replaced the Ram & that fixed the problem.
After another overclock attempt I started getting the same issue as before & realised this time that It was my Cpu causing the issue. By adding a little more voltage to my Cpu the problem was fixed.
This is just to illustrate that the Problem is likely to be a Ram or a Cpu issue, if all else fails. The tuners are heavilly reliant on Ram & Cpu, so any short falls in either can result in an imperfect picture.

try alternative software like beyond tv or sage tv.im using beyond tv on mine but i think sage tv works to capture from connections like vcr

okay after more reading I found I needed to hook up the A/V output on my camcorder to my line-in input on the capture card (WinTV-hvr-1600) and now audio is working!

first down load the update. when you get that open the zip file. then look for hcw clear.exe and click it . it will clear every thing and ask to reboot. then cancel all devices found after reboot. open the folder and click hcw drivers install, when that is done then click setup. hope this helps
