Do you have to remove the entire dash, including the steering wheel and speedometer panel, to replace the heater core in a 1996 Ford Ranger? The Haynes Manual states to remove 4 bolts on the plenum. Where are they, they seem to be in a good hiding place?
The heater core is on the passenger side of the dash.
You get everything in and out from under the dash.
Other than removing the cover you shouldn't have to remove anything else.
You should just have to remove 2-4 bolts that hold the plenum cover on, then undo the heater hose in the engine compartment, and I think two bolts along the bottom of the core and *** all drops loose.
The hard part is getting everything lined up when you put the new one back in.
