Question about Panasonic PT-47WX53 47" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Five Blinking Lights

I turn it on and just hear a beeping that fades away. No audio. No video. The front LED blinks five times. It's been unplugged for almost two months and worked perfectly before I plugged it in today and fired it up. I took the back panel off and nothing appears to have burned out, but I didn't poke around or touch anything for fear of making the problem worse.

Yup, that's the model. How would something like that break all of the sudden?

Okay, I've got the service manual. However, I won't be able to look at it until later tonight. I really appreciate the help.

  • stevenapryor Jan 08, 2008

Okay, I've got the manual on my Macbook. Opened up no problem. I assume you'll need me to take the back panel off the TV.

  • stevenapryor Jan 09, 2008

Nope. It worked perfectly up until the time I unplugged it. The only thing out of the ordinary was that it hadn't been used for two months.

I'll take a look at the solder joints and capacitors. Not sure how long this'll take...you cool with this taking a day or two?

  • stevenapryor Jan 09, 2008

Good deal... I didn't see anything suspect last night, but I want to give it another once over tonight. I'm going to use a brighter light and hopefully a better magnifying glass this time.

5 blinks means faulty IC4001. I dont believe that is servicable with out changing the entire module. I will check and get back to you on it. PT-47WX53 is your correct model info right?

Okay I just pulled up the service info on your Chassis its actually IC4511 which is the main signal processor. Post your email link and I will send you a copy of the service manual and then I can walk you through testing that IC as it may be a componnent down stream of the IC which is faulty.

Ok I just sent out your service manual, Usually those ICs are not serviceable, but sometime a component fails feeding voltage into the IC which triggers the same fault code. Let me know when you have your service manual, and we will pros=ceed from there.

yes take the back panel off and give it a look for cracked solder joints ,use a magnifying glass. Also check for any swelled capacitors. Now has the set exhibited anything even slightly before this?

Five red blinks in Sony LED TV KDL 40W900A.

5 red flashes is a bad panel connection or internal panel short, very carefully take the panel connectors off and reseat them and see if that helps, unfortunately you may have a bad panel.

My genie garage dooropener is blinking red on the opener motor. It is suppose to be blue.

1. If both round and long LED's are blinking, unplug the opener motor for five seconds, and replug. If the lights go back to normal, it was just a program error. If they both continue to blink, it's probably not user-serviceable.
2. If the round LED is blinking and the long LED is off, it is usually the door sensors that are obstructed or knocked out of line.
3. If the Long LED is blinking and the round LED is off, it is usually a bad roller or hinge that won't let the door move freely, something stuck in a track or a bent track.

Five red blinks. Won't turn on.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here.It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

My compaq 615 does not boot, it just turns caps' light on five times and then nothing happens

What you are seeing is a "blink code". Similar to something like a digital SOS message, your laptop is built to flash certain LED lights a specific number times to indicate a hardware problem.

According to Compaq's table of blink codes, the Caps Lock LED light blinking five times consecutively means you have a system board failure. If your laptop is still under warranty, I would contact the company immediately and have it shipped out to be serviced. Otherwise, you will need to either pay Compaq or another third-party repair shop to fix or, more likely, replace the system board.

Left tv unplugged for a few months no tv won't turn on

The first thing to do is try to turn on the set with the remote and then when it doesn't respond go to the set and hold down the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time until the power LED starts blinking a two sequence code. Like 2 - 4 or 1 - 2. The code will keep blinking for five or six times and stop. The blinking is the microprocessor telling you why the set is not working. We techs call that a self diagnostic function. Which this set has. Just repost your findings.
