Thanks, shaky120, but the Vaio 510 is an all in one and isn't anything like other laptops and desktops that I've worked on in the past. I did like that video where they used a pick, though; for sure that's one way of getting into a case!!

Thanks for that tip, mathgirl08. At least that gets me started. The reason I'm digging into this one is it was hit by lightning and I'm curious as to how much it's really damaged.

Hi, every desktop pc is almost the same to open up and take apart nowadays, if you want to checkout some of these videos should give you more than enough info..

I bought the same computer used, and I had issues trying to find out how to open it. On the actual computer part (not the monitor) there is a button on the upper left on the side facing you. Push in that button and slide that top casing to the right while pulling up. The RAM slots are on the upper left. I haven't found an easy way to get to the hard drive, but if you find one . . . please share. Every site I found says "don't try to change the hard drive".
