Removing cover from LG 9900

The clear cover over the lcd screen of my daughter's Envy cracked. I bought a dummy/display phone cheap and want to replace the cover. How do I pry off the old cover? I can get it partially off but the corners are stubborn. I don't want to break the clips. Once I am in, anything else going to complicate the replacement?

The dummy phone cover worked like a charm. The cover with the LCD screen is held on with 4 hidden screws and the cover with the camera is held on with 5 screws. Carefully remove the small screw covers with a sharp knife or razor - they can be re-used. On the side with the LCD screen, 2 of the screws are hidden by long narrow plastic strips on the inside cover. These can also be peeled back and re-used. Once the screws are removed, carefully insert the knife or razor between the panels and keep working - it will eventually separate. Get the middle sections first and the corners will eventually pop off. The speaker is held on the old cover by an adhesive slightly stronger than sticky notes so slowly peel it off the old cover and apply to the new one. The back side cover (with camera) appears to be a little more involved. The paint has to be removed from the camera screen (no big deal- just scrape it off) and some spring clips need to be transferred to the new cover (also no big deal) but there is some gold mesh and metal plates that bothered me since I didn't know their purpose. I decided to quit while I was ahead. The best price I found for the LCD screen cover was $80 plus installation. Imagine- $80 for a piece of plastic. Says a lot about the industry. I cannot vouch for any other dummy phones but the LG 9900 saved me a boatload of $$$.

Very often the Dummy phones these days are made to be just that A DUMMY PHONE. Quite often I read that parts off dummys will not work on a real phone. In the day Dummies were just the real phones gutted and they glued a keypad and fake screen under the bezels. Now it is cheaper just have to have them pour plastic in a mold and make dummies. I wish you luck, but I would keep this in mind.

Replacing the front LCD display of an LG EnV phone. My Daughter dropped it and the front screen cracked and now only half of it displays.

I think its better to bring it to your nearest celphone repair shop. And let the technician do replace the lcd.

My screen on my lg kg800 is scratched how can i replace it with a new one

is the actual screen inside scratched or is the outer phone housing screen cover scratched? There is a difference. The actual LCD screen is inside the phone housing and is protected by the phones housing. If the actual LCD screen somehow was scratched it can be replaced very easily and usually inexpensively. Try Ebay for the LCD. If the phones outer clear housing is scratched you can also replace the housing either by purchasing the same phone used and using its housing or some "dummy" phones can be used for there housings also. If the scratch is not really bad I have used rubbing compound to remove fine scratches, good luck!
