Lines, colors, delayed images

HL-R4667W 46-in, has crossing lines in green, white and purple, sometimes delayed images over the correct image, However, the picture in picture is just fine. Any ideas? Bought it third party and the warranty company does not exist any more. Thanks, -Ted

Re: Lines, colors, delayed images

Had the same problems.  This was after the a power outage.  Had green vertical and horizontal lines, like a checkered shirt.  But I searched online and found the simplest solution.  Just unplug the power.  And it worked.

Re: Lines, colors, delayed images

Hi Ted,
It sounds like you need to do a convergence of the colors. Most newer sets have auto adjust features like an instant focus. Just click the switch and it will normally align the picture. If your set doesn't have this feature of auto adjust, click on the menu button and find the color adjustment screen and manually adjust all the cross hairs to the proper alignment ( the center of the screen is where the best alignment results is ). I hope this suggestion helped som.

I had black vertical Lines. Sometimes across the entire image, sometimes partial. Came and went. Seems a dead-ringer for cold solder joints on the BGA of the DLP IC.
So i threw down $15 and bought the service manual online, pulled out the entire light engine assembly, and blew everything out, vacuumed etc.
I then tightened the heat sink on the DMD (supporting the DLP chip). Made the problem consistent (black lines) always. So then I slightly loosened the spring clamp screws - black lines went away.. Obviously this varies from each device, where the cold solder joint(s) are etc, But this will keep the Mrs happy until I work up the courage to reflow oven the DMD board, or get a new one. Anyone reflow oven their DMD boards yet?

White Horizontal Lines near the top of my Screen

this symptom is what we called vertical fold-over. vertical fold-over is characterised by a white horizontal bar on the bottom or top of the raster due to the concentration or compression of the trace lines. it an image is present, the bottom or top portion is fold over. this is caused by a vertical deflection current with poor linearity, which compresses the trace lines at the bottom or top of the screen. this symptom is is caused by a defective sawtooth wave genetator circuit, or improper biasing or defective feedback circuit of the vertical drive or vertical output transistor/ic. the negative feedback circuit in vertical deflection circuit compensates for the linearity of the trace portion of the sawtooth wave. a decrease in the capacitance of the sawtooth generator capacitor is usually the trouble. but if you do not understand anything what i have written here, better bring it to a qualified tv technician for your own safety also. good luck!
