Can I replace the PTT button on the radio from a housing kit?

Why not just do the whole housing? It is often easier than you think and easier than removing one little part that is likely to get broken.
Brand and model of radio would help a lot.

I need to get my Uniden mdh125 radio antenna fixed.

To be honest with the current cost of the radio it would be cheaper to buy a replacement or go to Uniden's web site and check a factory outlet store like the one here Uniden 2 Way Radios Two Way Walkie Talkie Radios Marine Radios CB Radios... and purchase one rather than pay to have it fixed.

PTT button on RDV 2020 is hard to push

This problem is typically caused by small component behind the PTT button being cracked or broken. The RDX series radios respond best if the user presses the PTT button in the center versus the top or bottom sections of the button. Once the button becomes hard to press it is best to get the radio repaired. Commonly if the radio remains in use the PTT issue will get worse as the internal PTT component is pressed harder, pushing it further away from the outside button and eventually loosening it from the component board.

Best regards.

How to repair a motorola rdu2080d PTT button

If the push to talk button is damaged. You will need to disassemble the radio to get to the circuit board. The PTT is usually surface mount soldered to the board. You will need silver electronics grade solder, a flux pen, a solder sucker or solder wick, a replacement PTT, a soldering iron 25 watts or greater, screwdrivers to match the screws in the casing during disassembly, a table mounted vise to hold the circuit board during repair/ soldering, a very fine grit sand paper to remove any oxidation off the terminals of the PTT for a perfect solder connection, and probably a magnifying glass to inspect the new solder connection with the PTT to the circuit board.

Most of the soldering tools can be purchased at radio shack.

if you have no experience soldering, I recommend going to YouTube and watch the videos posted on DIY soldering to get a good understanding of the whole process from start to finish. There is a huge amount of informational videos on the subject there. I could sit here and try to explain the whole process and why but as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words (but a video is worth a million ).

Hope this helps. Have an excellent day.

Is it possible to fix a non working PTT button on a RDV2020

The PTT button is one of the common failure parts. It is replaceable, but best done by an experienced repair center.

The following things can happen over time:
1) The internal PTT switch can wear out from frequent usage.
2) The user begins to press harder to get the PTT to work, bending the PTT switch further away from the external button the user is pressing.
3) Plastic diaphram, if any present, gets broken in half, and the external PTT switch doesn't work anymore.

Several companies offer flat rate repair on this style unit for around $85.

Best regards.

Looking for a 21" antenna for a Motorola SP10

There are custom made antennas for portables. But the better solution is by eradiostore, use a mag mount.1) custom portable antenna, expensive.2) Motorola adaptor to BNC to longer antenna (portable, car type or base station).
3) NO power increase, not only are those frequencies designed for low power the board inside the radio cannot handle the heat and is not changeable or adjustable.

My name is Matt. I have several M-series uhf motorola radios, and I'm having trouble with one of my MU21cv's. when I take the antenna out it sends and receives fine, but when I put an antenna in (that...

First, we recommend you do not press the PTT button with the antenna removed, as it can damage your radio's reference ocsillator (final amplifier). That being said, you have a unique problem which could be caused by a poor connection in the antenna port of the radio. It is possible screwing the antenna on is slightly separating the internal antenna connection from the component board, or you have a hairline crack in the board in that area.

Also, you may want to check the programming of your frequency and PL code. Sometimes in a close proximity radio will work with one another when set to a "near" setting. Never hurts to double check.

Best regards.

ICOM IC-A6 Feedback type interference

The problem is caused by the microphone preamp in the headset demodulating the AM transmission. Sordin MSA headsets also have the same problem. What you require is a headset with no electronics in it and a dynamic microphone.

Initially, pls check/clean your antenna, mount, coaxial cable, RF connector, power leads, grounding straps.

Based on your post description, a couple of ideas:
1. Since you receive OK, chances are the antenna/cable is good. You verify though with an SWR meter;
2. Since TX light comes on, looks like the mic, PTT and coiled cord are all OK;
3. All else works but no one can hear you, you have no power output. Use an RF wattmeter with dummy load to verify that you are pushing at least 25 watts. In the absence of a power meter, the SWR would also do or even an indication of a significant current flow to the radio ( use an inline ammeter) would indicate power.
As you will note, some specialized instruments are needed. Perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified communications technician. TMore often it is the finals or power pack that fails resulting in no TX. In some cases, it is either the RF diode or the power regulator that causes no TX. It may also be worth your while to do a full check over of your antenna system.

Hope this be of some help. Pls post back how things turns up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
