HELLO
You have a Tape Path problem here. There a few causes but I think the main one is the pinch roller may be worn/mis-shaped or even dirty. You need to have the tape path cleaned totally first and to try the deck again (has it been serviced/cleaned in four years?) If it still has the problem you will then need to have the pinch roller replaced.
There is also the possibility that the VCR deck may be developing a mechanical fault.
