Connect the monitor to a laptop -- is it still blurry?
If so, then the monitor is the problem.
If not, then your computer (the video-card?) is the problem.
The optimal resolution for that LCD screen is 1280 x 1024, any lower resolution will result in jagged/blurry images due to the Pixels being hard wired in an LCD.
To help make text larger you can set the DPI setting to 120 from the default of 96 and also use the cleartype tuner to make the image clearer.

My HP Vs 17 in.flat screen monitor just shuts off by itself after I torn it on. It also looks discolored in the bottom right corner when it is on. What is wrong, and can it be solved?
