It may be that you have NumLock on - these function represents a KeyPad on the Letter Keys - usually the U,I,O,P,[,J,K,L,;,M kEYS are replaced with numbers - to switch on/off you should have a key with Number Lock on it possibly abbreviated to NumLck or NumLK etc - activate that Key - may need to use in combination with the FN key as well to toggle the Number Lock on and off - also often a light appears to show its ON
You might have a "proportional space" printwheel but the pitch selector is on 10, 12, or 15 instead of PS. OR it is on PS but you have a normal print wheel. Try selecting different pitches. Another thing that causes that problem is sometimes the ribbon or correction tape gets caught in the printwheel.
Ok u probably have it set on T9Ab which u will see at the bottom left screen whenever ur sending a text, and thats how it works. It figures out what ur typing so u can just hit each letter that the words start w/ instead of clicking the number more than once just to get to a specific letter. Now to stop it from doing this, you go to options, go down to the 3rd option which says "Alpha" which means alphabet, which is where u r able to spell things out step by step how u prefer. Hope this helps you out, and good luck w/ ur phone, Im not too fond of it b/c it freezes a lot once uv had it 4a while. Merry CHRISTmas!!! =)
