"shadow" print on letterhead and envelopes

Our HL2040 is printing the address twice on envelopes. It prints normally, and in the right location, and then it prints a fainter shadow of the text also. This shadow text is offset quite a bit below the original text. Envelopes tend to jam the machine as well. Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice, I forgot to mention that the printer is new so hopefully these things aren't bad already. Any other thoughts?

I too am getting the shadow on envelopes. Printer is brand new - less than 300 pages printed. Have not found a solution to it.

The drum is not the problem, as the drum has better than 70% of its life left. There is no problem with the return address, only the delivery address. Maybe this is why the printers were on sale. We have 5 of these printers and they all have this problem.

I am seeing the same problem on card stock. prints fine on normal paper 24#, but my business cards get the same ghosting as you describe.

Sounds like it is time to replace the Drum. As for Jamming, the pick-up and feed rollers might need to be replaced.
