Question about Lexmark JetPrinter X1185 All-In-One InkJet
What he said above. also, Lexmark printers arent typically a good brand when it comes to home printers, i would suggest that you get a HP next time. they last longer. I work on both kinds for a living.
Always install the software first before physically connecting a new device as windows tries to install its own drivers automatically. If your having problems, you can un-install it and then re-install. Also, if you unplug it and use your computer and the plug it back in later, windows will usually say " device found" followed by its name. this is normal.

Disconnect the printer and re-install the driver. If you plug the printer in and then try to install the printer, Vista will install it's own driver.
The download manager will tell you when it's ok to plug in the printer.
You will get messages that say the software is not window approved but click to install anyway. Most new hardware will give you this instruction on a single sheet, added to the package as an after thought.
