Packard Bell Notebook 7305 battery failure

Hi, My notebook battery will not charge up. This problem was there when I first bought it from Pcworld and they put some kind of programme in to fix it as they said it had happened because of a storage and transit problem but it is out of warranty now. It has possibly happened again because I haven't used it much lately and the battery may now have a memory fault.
I would be grateful if you can suggest any solution.
