You need to change the flex cable inside that connects the LCD to the mainboard.

How so i get rid of the "white screen of death"

Hold down power button for about 30 seconds (or until phone recognizes power off), let it shut down.Afterwards, hold power button down maybe 10 seconds, release and let it reboot. If it performs normally, great. If not, check the following page:

My iphone 3gs screen went white. looked up solutions online and it said to push the sleep/wake button and the home button for at least 10 sec. i did, however the red slide bar NEVER shows up??? so i cant...

Hold the power button for 3 seconds and without releasing the power button, push and hold the home button and continue holding both buttons until you see the apple logo, once the phone goes off, if it doesn't come back on by it's self, then just power it on as you normally would.

Hi,

Probably due to the flex cable that connects the screen to the main board failing.

My phone was fine when closed, but went bonkers as soon as I slid it open. I replaced the cable and now all is back to normal.
