It is possible that the cable to your antenna is broken somewhere. You have the right idea to start there.
It is also possible that your TV is looking at CABLE instead of AIR, or visa versa.

My sony bravia tv has started playing blurry bbc channels... all other channels are fine. Any ideas?

Antenna or cable or provider, which ever you have, is the problem,
not the TV.

you will have to program the tv to cable for it to work then it should start changing the channels and if that doesn't work then you might have a bigger problem with the tv

Channel Changing

Some TV's have a 115 to 125 channel limit then will go to video in and then channel 2 and start over. Your TV's tuner may not have the ability to decode those channels. My suggestion would be to get a set top box (cable box) that can access channels. Your provider should have these or can suggest where to get one. Probably less expensive than a new TV.
