Question about Samsung RS2534 Side by Side Refrigerator

Rs253baww stopped working

We went on vacation, came back and fridge not working properly. Tried a couple of 10 minute power off resets- nada. some food items were frozen, temp panel not responding on either freezer or fridge- 49/52 degrees respectively showing on display, despite choosing lowest setting and power freeze/cool... Currently have it unplugged and open (for past 8 hours) I think it might be frozen? any other suggestions would be SOOO appreciated... am I on the right track or do I need to call a repair person (don't think there is a samsung one in my rural area) thanks!

sorry for the badly worded request. When we returned from vacation there were frozen items in the fridge, and the water would not dispense. Tried resetting by unplugging for 10 minutes, but temp on display seems to stay at 49 freezer, 52 fridge- even after selecting power freeze & power cool. And water still wouldn't dispense... but could hear it "trying" Now I have it unplugged- because I'm thinking it might have "frozen up" (?) not really sure....

    (frozen items not in freezer)

I believe my fridge/freezer "froze up" Everything was cold, food in fridge side frozen, no water to dispense- control panel did not seem responsive or accurate. I tried to power down reset, at least twice for 10 min., no change. I now have fridge off and open - has been open for over twelve hours, water tank feels very cold... am i on the right track?

Simple. i think you have lost your thermostat dead. all this problem is just due to thermostat. since thermostat is not detecvting the problem properly your display is is not changing. again this thermostat is responsible for cutting of the colling process when colling gets increased.
and hence you are now sure to replace your thermostat. and more over i dont think you need a samsung tech only to repair this. if its not coming under warranty conditions you can get it repaired by any tech.
but as far as my experience is concerned. its definitely the thermostat. (i hope this is basic physics and u must have detected this problem by your own)

thermostat is the main temperature sensing unit.

i shall explain you how this problem may have caused. when you were not present at home the cold temp inside has got down more down. and this thermostat which is fixed in your fridge has not been tested for extreme conditions i think. so when the temp went very much down the thermostat has shown its fault.
now this thermostat got faulty at a very low temp and is not able to return to normal state. and so it must be giving signal to the control circuit that the temp is still very low. this is the reason for the temp display still remaining the same.
hope you are able to understand the process i explained.

see this diagram if you dont understand my words there.

this thermostat has got stuck in that very low temperature. and now its able to come out of that low temperature. this is the problem what you are facing exactly.
its a fault in product and not your fault. if you still have warranty period get the thermostat replaced. else mean call a local tech he will fix you a new thermostat.
thanks for allowing us to help you.
please give reply about the solution.

    Do you have teh manual?
"Generally the freezer temp is the REAL temp of the unit. Fans, dampers
and manual control levers let some of that cold freezer air into the
refer compartment to cool it. Check your owners manual for damper
operations if you have one. If you have a refer temp control all that
does is control a damper to let the cold freezer air into the
compartment. Also make sure you don't block off any of those vents in
the refer or freezer compartment or bad air circulation can occur.? "
I found this in another post. Try this. I will be back tomorrow if you havent solved your problem.
Maybe you got the fridge temp too low and its freezing the fridge.

Stinkerbelle, sorry i had to leave and that is why i stop replying.
Have you tried to defrost your refrigerator? To defrost, unplug it, and leave it unplugged for 12hrs or more.

If after defrosting your Fridge you plug it back, and it start freezing the food again, then check the temperature control and se if it is in a very low temperature, if it is marking something that is way too diferent to the cold temperature, then it might be a problem with the temperature control, the vents (they might be too opened) or a problem in electronics were the fridge stop responing to what the temperature control marks.

This posible problems i stated before should be checked if the defrozt dosent work, and i recomend you not to try to fix the temperature control yourself if your not experienced in that.

Power went out, and my g.e. refrigererator lights are on inside but the ice and water panel is off and fridge has not run sense

Unplug your refrigerator from the wall current. Wait 10 minutes and plug it back in.
The powere outage may have tripped an internal breaker. Usually, unplugging, waiting 10 minutes and plugging the fridge back in....will reset the internal electronics. Good Luck!

Freezer goes off with brief power failure + does not reset

What Samsung said is untrue....
The fridge and freezer have default settings...8 and 38 deg. If it looses power and is restored it will default to that....
This fridge is a complex device and is compute chip controlled.
There are tests that you can run if you have the ability to read and follow directions....That will allow you to guide a service person to what your problem is. They will probably not have this information so I am giving you the link to the service manual...

Good luck

I have a GE REfridge that stopped running....

The compressor never runs out of freon - unless you have a leak somewhere, which is rare - and besides, your compressor motor would be still running but you would not get cooling - the most common problem associated with this is control board failure, so compressor does not start at all. Try unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes and plug in again - see if this resets the control board - if problem persists or comes back you will need to call service and have them check the control board.

Before doing so, try unplugging and plugging back in after a few minutes, it might get things started again - if you have a manual knob for your cold control try setting the dial to off, then turn it back on all the way until you hear a "click" sound to confirm your thermostat is working properly - if you hear the clicking on the thermostat area, but compressor motor does not come on, call service.

the ice maker wont cycle untill the temp of the ice is around 10 degrees so if the freezer is at 15 or 20 due to some other malfunction then you will see the maker full of ice but it wont harvest and make another batch. so you could have a sensor bad, control malfunction, refrigeration issue, compressor, defrost system malfunction(you mentioned ice build up)

Power problem

Most likely the convergence ICs are bad. These aare large black ICs attached to a heatsink. They will be marked STK393-110 and have about 15 pins or so. Replace these and check the fuses marked F9A01- F9A06 on the same board. Replace any open fuses after the IC replacement and report your results here.

Refrigerator buzzing for 10 seconds every 4 or 5 minutes

Buzzing is usually a fan, like one in the freezer, or back bottom - for cooling the freon. The compressor over-heat usually will make a single click (off) and a few minutes later a click (on). If the fan in the freezer stops working well, the freezer will frost up and the fridge section will not be cold enough.
