Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV
When the screen shows two vertical black bars on either side with the picture in the middle, during comercials for example, the top of the screen has a thin horizontal bar going accross it with flashing black and white boxes. This TV (Sharp Aquos- 42in) in less than one month old.
Go to menu and settings and look for OVERSCAN and set this to on and hey presto no more white lines no matter what ratio your in.

Thin white dashes on top of screen is PERFECTLY NORMAL. It is nothing wrong with the TV, it is the broadcast. What you are seeing is the very bottom of the timecode running. It doesn't happen all of the time or all channels. It usually happens with old 4:3 commercials predating "Digital TV." This is mentioned in your Users Manual. You should be able to adjust the horizontal/vertical position in the menu settings.

It should be in warranty. Either get exchanged by vendor or get fixed by droping to a warranty depot shop.
