Reach into the papar slot directly above the display screen, (where you would place the paper to be faxed, pull outward, this will hinge downward
There is a small finger hole just below the fax/paper (face down) symbol. Pull outward, this will hinge upward.
The cartridges will move to the center of travel. If you get this far the instruction are on the underside of this flap. The cartridges snap out by pulling toward the front.
COLOR = #20

Black line 1 inch wide right side ,when copies are made and faxing

When the paper is fed through Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is is scanned before copy or fax. The scanner is fixed type and is located just below the ADF.
The lines are due to dirty scanner mirror. The printer/ scanner design is based Sheet-Fed Scanner. Open/Lift the Control Panel (scanner top )(by pulling it up from front - the area from where the paper to scan comes out). Look out for the horizontal mirror and use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to gently clean the scanner mirror, rollers etc. and enjoy clear scanning and copying!
Inspect for any tron pieces of paper dirt etc.DONT USE PAPER, CHEMICALS OR ANY ABRASIVE CLOTH as it may damage the parts.
Also note that your machine can scan an image only 8.15 inches wide, regardless of how wide the paper is.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

The mark is not being produced from the toner cartridge or scan mirror. The line is being produced by the Drum unit. You need to replace it.

You can purchase one online or at you local stationery retailer.

Hope this helps.

My mfc240c says to replace the yellow ink cartridge but I don't want to spend money on that if the 'light bulb' is ruined. When I turn on the machine, I don't see any light for scanning or copying. ...

By the "light bulb," do you mean the scanner lamp? That lamp should only turn on when you are actually scanning, faxing, or copying a document. You should be able to still use the machine to scan and fax, even with the yellow ink empty. Try scanning a document to see if the scanner lamp comes on.

As far as printing or copying goes, you won't be able to print or copy anything until you replace the yellow ink, even if you try printing in black and white only.

Stripe on receiving fax Brother MFC 7820N

I had the same problem, and I just fixed it.  It was a tiny little black dot which was stuck to the glass where the document feeder passes the paper to.  First you need to figure out where the line is on paper with respect to the paper, and just carefully run your finger on the glass to see if there is something on the glass.  I removed it, cleaned the glass, and anything which I run through the document feeder is now fine.  Hope this helps.
