Is there a way to install Visioneer 4400 on Windows 7?
I upgraded from Vista ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate and now my visioneer 4400 cannot be detected. I uninstalled the driver and tried to reinstall it using compatibility mode Windows XP sp2 and Windows 2000 but both attempt failed. The installer wizard installs the driver files and then ask to click the "Finish" button after my computer detects the scanner. The problem is that my computer is not detecting the scanner to finish the install.

- I finally got it to install. This is what I did: since I have tried to installed the driver executable file 4400.exe that I had so many times under different compatibility modes, I went through remove/add programs and uninstall the driver files. Rebooted my computer to make sure nothing is left in memory. Plug in the usb cable from scanner to computer and rebooted. Went to device manager and clicked on "Scan for Hardware changes" button. The "Imaging Devices" folder appeared in the list and my computer recognized the scanner as "42 Bit USB Scanner". Right click on "42 Bit USB Scanner" and select to update driver. You will be prompted to either Search for driver automatically or manually browse my computer. Choose to search automatically. Microsoft will find a working driver version and voila! my scanner worked. The driver version that is installed says: Visioneer version 3.0.0.0 dated 8/28/2001 (when clicking on the Driver Details button, it says: File version 6.1.7600.16385(win7_rtm.090713-1255).

Im not sure that will work with the driver for xp ...try again with the vista driver ..cause this are the ones most closed to windows 7...and get started from the device manager ...so in this way the scaner will be first seen and than add the driver by updating it ...

I have the disk and have bought a new computer with Windows Vista. Apparently my Scanmaker 4900 does not have a drive that is compatible for Windows Vista. Nor could it find one. I'm frustrated that I may have to now buy a new scanner. Ant suggestions? The Vista site concerning drivers was not helpful.
