Question about Hitachi RAS-09UH Air Conditioner

Electrical Schematic?? Hi, Here is our problem:  We have this unit installed in our desert vacation home in the wine "cellar" room, at times when we are not here, the electricity has gone out (even just for a second) and this unit shuts down and doesn't come back on until we come here and physically turn it on again. We are looking to bypass this so we don't have wine ruined while we are away.  How can we get this unit to come back on by itself?   Another problem is: this unit is installed in such a way that we cannot remove the cover and though I can pull the cover open enough to see the electrical schematic, I cannot read it.  Does anyone have a picture of the schematic?  Or is there a place to get the manual for this unit that might have the schematic in it? My husband is a licensed electrician so can probably fix the problem, but when we don't have anything to look at or manual to read, it is difficult to know what to do. Thanks for your help.      Tiffany

Re: Electrical Schematic??

An easier solution would be to connect it to an UPS. May not be the cheapest though.

Why isn't the condensing unit running?

Has it worked since he installed it?? Check the disconnect outside and check the breakers. If it has worked for a short period the installer may not have put the correct breaker in but it could be lots of things.

I have a 18000btu LG mini split heat pump installed about 1 year ago in vacation home. In heat mode the unit cycles on and off when room temp is within 2-3 degrees of set point. Cycle on time varies...

Hello.I think they are on to something with shortcycling on temp sensor.I think it should be sampling the return air instead of (inside coils ?).A 2*f dead band use to be built in (factory installed) to thermostats to prevent on/off, but not sure in this case.Try a new sensor location(return air) and see if anything changes.

If i am away for any length of time, do i put the temp on vacation? does the water still get warm?

Since you didn't provide the brand & model of the thermostat, only generic help can be provided.

Most furnaces that run on oil or gas, make hot water all the time, 24 / 7 - winter, summer and everything between so to speak. They are controlled by an aquastat that may be set for any value between 140 - 180 degrees F. This is called "hot start" - simply because when the thermostat is set to a temperature higher than the room (turning heat ON), the water is already hot in the furnace, and is circulated immediately. If it was a "cold start", you'd have to wait for the water in the furnace to heat up from room temperature. This would substantially increase the amount of time it would take to heat the room.

Generally, the "vacation mode" simply halts the program from running. If your thermostat changes temperatures several times during the day / night, it will simply hold the lowest temperature - or a predetermined temperature built in - or chosen by you. You'll need to consult your manual to determine just how your thermostat handles the vacation mode setting. Post again if you can't find the manual - but tell us what brand and model it is.

I hop ethis helps - good luck!

Many heating thermostats don't allow for setting a temperature below 45 degrees F so freeze ups shouldn't be a problem.

I want to bypass the internal thermostat and run my Kenmore 10K BTU thru-the-wall to an external thermostat so I can cool my wine cellar to 55F. The external thermostat will operate power to the unit. What...

I know this is going to sound rude but you I promise I mean it with only your best interest at heart. You should probably buy the proper piece of equipment to do the job, not a window air conditioner for a wine cellar. For one you may burn your house down by bypassing things in an electrical system that were not designed to be bypassed. Second you are going to over tax that little unit and it will not dehumidify properly. Again I am sorry if that sounded rude just be careful and dont bypass stuff because if something were gonna happen mr. murphy will happen at the most inopportune of times.

Got home from vacation, the outside A/C unit

I wuld recommend calling a technician, however, it could be problems with the 2 wire control wire that leads to the outside unit, or the thermostat

well most unite will but out 54 degrees but as far room temp reaching that is highly unlikely. the unite would probably turn into a big hunk of ice and stop! this is more of Refrigeration unite which operate at lower temp. you can buy small ones fairly cheap. try EBay.
