Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655 36" Rear Projection HDTV

Sony Wega Rear Projection TV, Red light flasing

I have a 3 1/2 year old Sony 50" Grand Wega rear projection TV. The TV powers up for about 3 seconds, then will have a picture and sound 2 or 3 times for about 3 seconds each and then go black. After about 5 minutes the screen goes completely dark and the red light blinks 3 times for about 2 minutes and then it shuts down. I have removed the bulb and the bulb cover piece. I did not replace the bulb yet because it does not look blown, and because the screen actually comes on in full color once or twice, as well as the sound. I have tried to use the cable box, DVD player, and a memory card, yet I get the same result. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, it because of heat buildup, and the inside is fried, you need repair

The power/standby indicator is flashing a red light and my tv will not turn on.

Flashing of the led light indicates an error code, count how many times it will blink to determine where the fault came from.

My sony 50" wega just quit. No picture , no sound , no nothing ?

If you see standby red light blinking on Tv front with 3 seconds interval then count its blinks from pause to pause and let me know, its an error code.
And if TV does not even show standby light then check fuse in power supply that would be blew off for some reason, replace it.
Still problem? let me know with exact model number of your Sony TV.

I have a Sony Grand Wega KDF-E50A10 50". Turned on the TV and all 3 indicator lights came on RED. There was no sound and nothing was on. Killed the power to the tv , waited 5 mins, rejuiced and it turned...

3 blinks red light is a lamp error, either the lamp switch is dirty or lamp is going, if it does it again reseat the lamp and see if it stops.
plan on replacing the lamp every 2 years or so anyway

Sony Wega 50

Usually this is a classic lamp problem, but it could also relate to a defective lamp ballast (power supply).

Now if you are replacing lamps frequently, it's likely the lamp isn't getting enough airflow to keep it cool. If you don't get the airflow issue solved it will take out the thermal safety fuse near the lamp and your set won't come on and the power light will blink red 6 times repeating itself until you unplug it. Some lamp fans are so deeply nested it takes a trained tech to get them out. Dusty environments are bad for TV's with fans in them, especially projection types.

Dead sony

The $1200 was for the lcd engine not the lamp. You should change the lamp. The buzz is the power supply trying to light the lamp.
