I just got a Vizio HD tv for christmas and the controller worked for one night and then the next day I had to be within 4 feet of the tv for the controller to work.I have changed the batteries, rebooted the tv by unplugging and plugging it back in...it hasn't been dropped or gotten wet...Any suggestions?? oh also emailed the co. they don't seem to know what is wrong with it.They are the ones that told me to reboot it.

Main Power Supply issue! The repair would cost you more than what a new flat panel would cost you. Vizio is a Chinese made TV. Only lasting 3.5 to 4 years. Go out and buy yourself a new Christmas gift a new flat screen TV. Try to get a name brand one like Sony, Samsung or Panasonic. They have great service records. Vizio is your typical breaks, throw it away. Blessings always, A/V Media Tech Guy
Probably but this hitachi has no reall HD just simulated, called D3VirtualHD by hitachi. Should work, you can always return the blu-ray if it's not what you expected or ask a good salesman if it's worth, you might try it in store...
How old is this set? If any age, might be time for a replacement, you can get a 50" for under $1000 now. Dont know about your issue, I have never heard of one not turning on because of a timer, suspect you may have a micro issue, the power cord unplug would be advisable, but sounds like you tried it, have you tried the buttons on the front? Do you clean the screen with something liquid? Some of these the buttons go bad and confuse the micro if you use liquids on the screen and let some dribble down the frame. Might pull the speaker grill off and there should be 2 1/4" screws on 2 brackets loosen and the brackets will drop, the screen can come out and there is a long connector that goes from the front to just behind the middle tube and if you unplug it it will kill the buttons on the front and if it is your problem will allow the remote to function, reassemble reverse of disassembly.
