My husband bought a Canon Wordtank G55 several months ago. Now he sees a number of black vertical lines on the screen that he never saw before. He last used the dictionary three weeks ago or so. When he turned it on yesterday, the batteries had to be replaced and he changed them. Then, the dead black lines appeared. My husband and I can minimize the appearance of black lines by lightening the color on the screen. But, we believe that we should not see such vertical lines, even if we darken the color. Is this broken? Can this be fixed? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same dictionary and have owned it for 3 years now. Half my screen went out a month or so agao and I couldn't find anyone who could repair it so I just opened it up and and *gently* tapped around to make sure there were no loose wire connections on the back of the screen. Lo an behold it worked! Maybe this could help with your problem. I would at least try that before buying a new one. (BTW taking it apart was a little difficult but not impossible... around 15 minutes or so for me)
