If you are connecting to either broadband cable or dsl you pretty much have the same steps. First hook up the modem (dsl or cable) with its own power cable and its own internet connection coming in (dsl will be a usually green phone cable)(cable will be a coaxial line that the cable guy already hooked up). Next get the netgear router and plug in its power cable somewhere near the modem, then plug in a preferably crossover ethernet cable to the uplink connection on the back of the netgear, should be on the same side as where the power cable went in. (and yes you can probably use a straight ethernet cable as well) Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into the only location it will go on the modem, both boxes should already be setup for use, if for any reason they do not work just pull the power on them both at the same time and wait a minute or two and replug them back in for power resets.

I have a rangemax router connecting my home desktop with windows xp to the internet. At random times I have to login to the router control panel and switch the settings back and forth from "Use Default Address" and "Use Computer MAC Address." Im not sure why it is doing this, but I have to switch at least once a day to get the internet to work. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Must I buy Best Buy's $250 wireless router? Or is there another
wireless router out there that's more reasonable for this little USB
aircard? (Which works great, by the way; by-by WildBlue!). My Rangemax
does not have USB ports in the back. Dah! Thanks in advance!

Hi i had it working for 4 or 5 months then had a power failure. now it only works when cabled, wirless sees the device, but won't connect. I have done the following all systems powered off powered on in order, (modem wait 2 min, then router) pushed the reset button on the router, updated firmware checked all settings (esp radio on) on router. i have 2 wireless devices that don't work anymore an airlink music bridge and an HP laptop. I can even change the ssid name and see it change on the laptop but no connect, no error message. thanks, Tom
