Remove the brushes from the base of the unit by pulling down and unlatching at ends. Is there a drive pin present? The pin will be a 1/4 inch square pin, about two inches long. It engages to the drive mechanism.
Second: Is the Brush Control switch on the hood set to full speed, or shut off?
If both of these are OK, then the problem would appear to be the drive mechanism is not rotating, and would need removed and repaired/replaced. That is accessed by removal of the hood.
